antique auto part: i am hoping there is an antique auto buff in the k-w region who'll take interest and want to restore this thing. some of the tubes are broken and part of the chassis is bent. but otherwise, the whole thing is there, including the front chrome face plate and glass in the dial.
antique auto part: in addition, because from reading this thread i see some people are not getting the important parts regarding dust-jacket swapping, i will sum up what i pointed out earlier. there can be nothing wrong with replacing a d.j. with one that is identical to the one which came with book as it was originally sold. doing so is no different than an antique auto dealer replacing a broken hood ornament with one identical to the original, perhaps one removed from a junked auto with the original hood ornament in immaculate condition.
antique auto part: amagine being in a major car accident in your antique automobile. not a vw but thoes huge metal ones with all the curves i think they might be a 40's ford or chevrolet. the worst part is you couldn't avoid that accident because the car you are driving didn't have sufficient brakes for modern driving conditions... and not only that but you have no seatbelt! the amount of money you put into your antique is now irrelevant because you and your family have all died the day you took your dinasour age ford to the freeway and totalled it. a car designed when safety wassn't an issue... :-( just awfull
