antique door: two antique outdoor lamps - these metal armed lamps are 9 inches long, with globes 10 inches in diameter. they were taken out of a house believed to be built in the early part of the 1900's. the globes are clean and beautiful, with no chips. inside each of the globes reads "corning no. 824160".
antique door: that happened at our ranch house (it's largely unoccupied save a few times a year) recently, when the burglars tried to kick in the antique door (the house is 100+ years old and kinda rickety, imo) and just succeeded in mangling it. didn't get it open, though.
antique door: you may be looking at virtually nothing, or you may be looking at an indicator of another, significant maintenance problem. either way, do not compromise a very valuable antique door leaf. an extra push or pull is small price to pay, especially when it is not usually an indicator of anything wrong but is only a temporary, natural condition to be expected and tollerated.
antique door: i once bought a set of 7 antique, door knobs and rim locks (1890) for $75.00. i didn't need the locks so i cleaned them up, oiled everything and got them in to good working condition. some were damaged beyound use so i ended up with 5 good locks. sold them on ebay for $159.00.
