antique phone: i have a wooden antique phone i am thinking about selling. it is in pretty good shape but seems unfinished or stripped. my question is, would you recommend that i put a nice stain or ??? finish on it before i sell it?
antique phone: and before you added that "antique" phone everything was ok? old phones needed quite a bit of ringing voltage (~80-100vac at 20hz) to get the ringer going. and if per chance you are not close to the exchange you are at the signaling limit on your loop which does no allow to connect to many phones at once. wait if somebody comes with an idea how to change the ringer in the "antique" phone. rw
antique phone: i second that motion. i bought an old trimline phone at an antique phone show for five bucks, and i didn't even get my money's worth. the hookswitch was a potted affair and the switch had broken out of the potting. so i glued it back in with superglue, but i'm not sure if it will hold together for long. there werew other problems with the phone, too. so it became a headache real fast.
antique phone: if you're gonna buy an old phone, antique, whatever, expect that somehow, something will be wrong with it. as he said, bell painted old phones, and if you were to remove the paint, you would see the ravages of time and previous abuse. they had a reason to paint it, of course. so unless you're an expert, expect something to go wrong.
antique phone: thanks for the prompt answer. i think the client has an antique phone system , but have to visist them to check. most of the call logging systems we have heard about log incoming calls, we want to log outgoing against a particular customer. this we can then match to the phone records to get an exact cost and the client then uses the record for billing purpoases. they want to get an exact cost per telephone call that can be logged to a client irrespective of the number they are dialling..
