antique piano: questions / comments: 1) having restored other furniture (pool table etc) i am comfortable with the restoration of the wood parts. the other parts would be tough (or could be tough) 2) is it easy to find replacement pieces for an older \ antique piano? 3) has any one else restored an old piano? what do you think any comments \ war stories etc? 4) any one have a "generic" (can be very ball park figure) on what an unrestored 1927 brinkerhoff would be worth?
antique piano: refinished or not, you have a piano that would have to be rebuilt to be a dependable instrument with any value. an outlay of around 6-7k or more would yield a piano worth about 1k. without the rebuild, maybe 50-100 bucks. no antique value. just an old carcass waiting to be laid to rest.
antique piano: i have an old (upright) piano which was manufactured by e. schuster (st. petersburg) in the late 19th century. i would like to know more about this instrument, but i can't find any information about the piano nor the manufacturer from the net. is there any good websites dealing with antique pianos? any other sources of information? hints?
