antique quilt: some of you may remember some months ago i gave lynne of toronto antique blocks that she was very excited and happy to receive. well they were so big, she had enough to make two quilts with them. the blocks were originally hand stitched by a woman named flossie from calif., who has been dead for many years now, and who's husband passed her blocks on to the only friend he knew of who quilted (that was sherry). sher knew she would never work with them, and passed them onto me, and i knew *i* might never do anything with them either, and through msgs. in the ng, lynne mentioned she had always coveted "old" blocks. so finally, we found a good 'home' for them.
antique quilt: lynne has done a wonderful job of capturing the 'antique' look of the quilt by appliqueing the sunflowers onto muslin, and using a lovely buttery yellow for the sashing and borders to represent sunshine. you all can go see it at:
antique quilt: do you guys remember this quilt? it is in a local antique/thrift shop around the corner from me. i asked the director of the la conner quilt museum if they'd be interesting it in purchasing it for their collection. last time i went there, it was still in the comforter zippered packing bag, and the guy still wanted 600 bucks for it.. :o(
antique quilt: did i send a link to my webshots pages? i put up pictures of the antique quilt that is/was for sale around the corner, as well as the half finished top for my dad's flannel quilt (my dad had to cancel his trip, he has to stay with the presidential group all the time! :o( so i have a lot of time to finish it before his next trip - good thing is he promises next time he'll bring mom with him!)
antique quilt: my dad's flannel top is in the quilts album, the antique obviously in the antique quilt album. i think that if the antique quilt is for real, it belongs in a museum. i was thinking of contacting the one in la conner to see if they are interested. -- dr. quilter ambassador of extraordinary aliens
