antique shop: almost too late, the man realises that the brass cat is attracting the felines, luckily, as they close in, he rounds a corner that takes his path over the towbridge of the canal. now running full-pelt with the claws of the leading cats catching the heels of his shoes, he pitches the statue over the wall of the bridge, into the canal. the carpet of cats hurl themselves in a yowling tidal wave into the canal after it. soon the canal is choked with dead and dying cats. the man takes a few moments to compose himself, and then marches back to the antique shop.
antique shop: first, my review is up of the new simpsons playset, the military antique shop. most folks will know it better as herman's, and he's the figure that comes packed inside. this is a terrific set, and one i've been looking forward to since series 1.
antique shop: when i enter a new state, or even a region within a state i stop at the first nice antique shop -- doesn't matter if they carry tools or not. i ask if they have a guide to antique malls or shops in the area. most do, and most are free, but you may have to pay a buck or two in some areas. these are usually paid for by member dealers and they list what they specialize in. after engaging the owner in conversation, i explain that i am looking for better quality used tools, antique or otherwise. i ask if they can recommend a shop which might carry such. sometimes you get a blank stare, but usually they recommend a shop or two. when i stop at those shops, i ask the same question. usually one or two names keep coming up, and i make sure to stop there.
antique shop: most tool collectors maintain booths in antique shops or malls to sell off their user quality tools. i have found that tool dealers tend to be realistic in their pricing -- if a tool is truly collectable, then it will demand a good price, but user grade tools tend to be more reasonably priced than the typical antique shop which thinks anything with stanley on it must be worth top dollar. but, like hunting for anything you need to keep looking -- just about the time you are ready to throw in the towel, you will find a gem. it helps to know your tools of course -- i found a beautiful sargent #606 low angle block plane, better than the equivalent stanley #60 1/2, that the dealer priced at $8 because it was not a stanley.
antique shop: reaction he rents room above the antique shop showing his independence and his plunge into the end. he wishes the room could be closed in like the paperweight. we find out how different the two main characters are. the state does not care what kind of person you you are. julia underezding of the party is much better that winston although she is nieve to many things that the party does. winston defines his rebellion in three steps, first the thought then the word(diary) then the act(julia). o'brien seems to be a good man, also in rebellion. his mother was like him.
