wood working craft: bill if you are going to sell your work, sell it. if you are going to give it away, give it away. i do both but not at a craft sale. there i sell. ask a local pro what they charge per hour for wood working and charge accordingly. if you undercharge for a piece, people consider it junk. if you put 3 hours into a bowl and charge 10 bucks for it, you are admitting it is junk. it likely is a beautiful bowl but you are by action calling it junk. do not sell our craft or our product short. we are not making/selling $3 walmart salad bowls here. please note the adamant response.

wood working craft: i know i will hate myself for this but a quick and easy craft that sells well is anything in sos (sh*% on a stick). you have seen them the yard ornaments that look like granny bending over in the garden type things. now is the time for anything to do with halloween or christmas. find a catalog with patterns and use that for inspiration. then as soon a christmas is over go to real wood working. oh yes local craft show to sell them.
wood working craft: "woodworking" means "making things out of wood," right? seems to me that's pretty much a constant wherever there are trees. there are woodworkers who are artists even though what they do is intended for utilitarian purposes; there are some who are craftsmen/women (well-crafted utility, with aesthetics as a secondary or tertiary component); there are some who are sculptors in wood (purely aesthetic intent, little or no utility). there are, needless to say, a fair number of dick-fingered splinter- makers around, too.
